Postgraduate Studentships in Algebraic Geometry and Representation Theory [3.5y; high-class undergraduate degree maths; interest geometry/representation theory; +£13,590; Motivic invariants and categorification] / Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford / deadline May 12Postgraduate Studentships in Algebraic Geometry and Representation Theory Vacancy Reference: BK/11/010 STUDENTSHIP: EPSRC STANDARD STUDENTSHIP + College and University fees Applications are invited for up to two 3½ year postgraduate studentships, to work on projects in Algebraic Geometry and/or Representation Theory, with one of Professor Dominic Joyce, Professor Raphaël Rouquier, Dr Balázs Szendröi or Dr Kobi Kremnizer. The studentships are available for a 1st October 2011 start. The studentships are funded as part of an EPSRC Programme Grant on ‘Motivic invariants and categorification’. This establishes a cross-disciplinary research group working in Geometry and Representation Theory, which the students will be members of. The areas covered by the project include:
The students will work on projects in one of the areas of the grant, under the supervision of one of the four investigators. The studentships are attached to St Peters and Lincoln colleges. The studentships include a basic stipend to cover living expenses, and tuition and college fees at the Home/EU level. Overseas students (non EU) may also apply for the studentships, but will be responsible for making up the difference (currently £9,250 per year) between Home/EU fees and Overseas fees themselves Applications may be made online at www.ox.ac.uk/admissions/postgraduate_courses and should include a CV, covering letter, three references, and a transcript of your undergraduate degree. Alternatively, applications can be sent to Margaret Sloper at the Mathematical Institute using the University’s application form for graduate study, which can be downloaded from the above link. Applications must arrive by the end of the day on 12 May 2011. Please quote the correct reference BK/11/10 in your covering letter. Applicants must arrange for their references to be sent either through the online system or directly to Margaret Sloper (email Această adresă de e-mail este protejată de spamboţi; aveţi nevoie de activarea JavaScript-ului pentru a o vizualiza ) by the closing date.
